It was so nice to plan a session for the Omer Family again! I cannot believe it’s been 3 years since I took Inayah’s newborn photos! When they came to Charleston for a weekend getaway, I was ecstatic they remembered I moved here and figured it would be a perfect opportunity to update some family photos. Inayah has grown into such a beautiful, fun, and spunky girl. I immediately remembered I had this gorgeous Porcelian Teacup dress stashed in my wardrobe closet and knew it would be perfect for Inayah.
When two hometown friends come to visit…and also recently got engaged, there isn’t many other things to do then head downtown for some engagement photos! I can’t even count the number of years I’ve known Chris (eeekkk…coming up on our 20 year reunion soon man!) He also happens to be one of my hubby’s best friends. Chris and Alex have been dating for years and I could not be happier for the two of them to get engaged and start planning their future together. We had a few fun days in Charleston that got cut short with Hurricane Irma barreling towards us, but we still made the best of it with LOTS of good food and fun! Chicken and waffles, anyone? Fried green tomatoes? Hushpuppies? We have all of that covered here in Charleston. (Part of the reason I’ve gained 10 pounds since moving here…the food is too good!) […]
Who doesn’t love mermaids? And when your daughter wants to be one, you make it happen.
In September 2016, I attended an amazing workshop, the Neverland Retreat, in Lake Tahoe with some of my favorite photographers teaching and attending. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I honestly have to pinch myself because I have built such great friendships from that workshop. One of the instructors, Shelby Robinson, is one of the most creative and inspiring photographers I have ever met. When we had a moment to sit down in Tahoe and grab a quick lunch, we became fast friends and knew we wanted to collaborate on something together. As fate would have it, I recognized a few faces in the airport preparing for my flight home. Madison’s mom and I realized we live 10 minutes away from each other! It wasn’t long before the perfect collaboration came to mind. Madison Kirk, Shelby Robinson, and Ashley Goverman…a day in Charleston, SC. Fast forward […]
Working with Bella is always so much fun! She is so sweet and with the personality of a firecracker! She was a trooper this spring when we headed down to the beach on a really windy evening! The Tuchinda Design jumper she wore was so perfect for a beach session. Then we headed to one of our favorites, Home TeamBBQ, for a bite to eat. What a fun night!
I came across an amazingly beautiful gown from Arabella Couture Designs. I knew I had to shoot Raegan in it. It certainly was a wonderful way to get the creative juices flowing for 2017!!!
I was so excited when the Bells asked if I would be available to take their family photos for them again this year. It has been almost 3 years since we were visiting Charleston and we had a day full of family photos with the Bells and Silvoys. I mean…what are the chances you go to high school in Maryland and move 30 minutes away from each other in Charleston, South Carolina?! Well, that’s what happened! We wanted a completely different feel this time, so we headed downtown. I think it happened to be the coldest day we had all December, so they threw on some layers and we walked around while Heidi (the super cute pup) enjoyed strolling on the streets with us.
I had so much fun with this fabulous family last month. After moving around as much as we have in the past couple of years, I am so happy to have settled into the Charleston-area. It’s an additional plus when your daughter makes new friends at school and you realize very quickly, that as a mom, you’ve made a new friend too!! Dara told me there were some gorgeous locations in her neighborhood and I was squealing inside with all of the options for perfect family photos.
In the past 18 months, I have moved from Maryland to Tennessee to South Carolina. Last week, I had my first client portrait session since the summer of 2015. I must be the luckiest photographer alive that it was such sweet little girl! I am so thankful her mom found me on Instagram. After having to postpone due to the evacuation with Hurricane Matthew, we rescheduled for the most perfect evening. The sunset was gorgeous, the water was warm, and Lucy enjoyed chasing me around on the beach trying to splash me. 😉 I am so thankful to have met both Lucy and Amy. It was a great way to kick off my business here in the Charleston area!
This past spring we visited our family in Laurel, MD. My cousin, Taylor, was my go-to hair and makeup artist when we lived in Maryland, so whenever we visit, we also have something epic planned. This greaser shoot had been on the agenda for a while. My uncle is a mechanic and owns a few vintage cars. We wanted to do something special for both my aunt and uncle including his Chevelle. Not only did it turn out better than I could have hoped for, we got one of the photos printed on metal and my uncle immediately hung it in his garage. I loved being able to turn my kids into vintage greasers and really be creative with the photography. My favorite is the one where I climbed into the backseat and put on my wide angle lens to have them looking back at me.
